Books (as recommended)

Following Tutor feedback I now have access to a few excellent illustration and graphic design books. These are proving interesting references for the course:-

Fifty Years of Illustration by Lawrence Zeegen & Caroline Roberts. This really is informative and extremely useful in learning about the development of illustration and relevance in the events of time.

Graphic: Inside the sketchbooks of the World’s Great Graphic Designers. by Steven Heller & Lita Talarico. This is just wonderful. Beautifully produced and you can open it at any page and just wonder at the meanings, and pictures. It is quite fun and engaging to look at.

It is interesting to then compare with Graphic Design The new Basics (Ellen Lupton & Jennifer Phillips) – and see the more planned approach.

Of the books above I probably use and refer to Fifty Years of Illustration most often during coursework three. I need to find time to dip into the others more too.

These books are artworks in themselves. They are a delight to look through and will provide many hours of pleasure.
