Artists – Illustrators at work Today

An artwork paying tribute to those lost in the coronavirus pandemic and thanking NHS workers is being displayed on a beach in Dorset.

This is a new touring artwork by Luke Jerram using 120 bedsheets converted into flags to create a red cross. Visitors are encouraged to walk among the flags on Sandbanks beach in Dorset while maintaining social distances. The installation is part of the Dorset’s week-long annual Arts by the Sea Festival. On a video the public give their view on their response to Luke’s artwork. It evokes different emotional thoughts and feelings relating to personal experience of the pandemic. It is well received and also notable is comments on the sound of the “flags” moving in the wind.

I visited Luke Jerome’s installation of the moon in a Cathedral. It gave a sense of scale of the moon and the incredible mystery of creation in general.

Another relevant aspect of Illustrator’s work is an auction for Action for Children:-

This is published in the September Woman’s Weekly magazine (29.09.2020). The jumblebee monster drawing webpage is full of imagination and well worth a visit where well-known children’s illustrators have provided art work for auction.
