Reflections on Course Two feedback

15th May 2020. OCA Tutor feedback is entirely comprehensive and thorough. It provides the rungs of the ladder and more ! OCA Tutor gives support ++ plus to student course.

As well as reading through the guidance, it is useful to underline and annotate areas to develop ie giving more direction to the final reproduction of a brief, greater understanding of mood boards, experimenting further with mark making, introduction to other artists and illustrators, revisiting concepts. These are a just a few examples. The feedback also provides clarity in areas and ideas to move forward eg spider diagrams reflecting emotions as well as objects.

I hope to add to course work two (with notes at the end of the exercises) , explaining these additions are following on after submission of the work & are in response to feedback from OCA Tutor.

I really like the idea of the solution to the “Point of Sale” display assignment of creating a background representative of where the fruit is grown/harvested.

Assignment two is an introduction to many concepts. As I move into Assignment Three I aim to integrate these concepts and approach the exercises differently. Rather than each exercise being independent, I need to build from the feedback and start to apply the research and ideas and experimentation. The feedback is really supportive in helping to give in-depth consideration to these areas.

I shall keep re-reading the Tutor feedback before starting any exercise , as there is much to digest and the questions OCA Tutor provides in the summaries really give good signposting to how to research and develop projects.

I am pleased to be making progress and look forward to starting course work three.

It is also good to receive the OCA congratulations email cards following completion of assignment one and assignment two. These are emailed paintings of student works: one a beautiful lace imagery, the other a riverside scene of green rushes – really lovely.

I so enjoy receiving these. They used to be sent as large postcards and I miss the physicality of having them to easily place up and celebrate. However it is still good to receive them even if in digital form on line.
